One Month of Inaction by Authorities: There is a Purpose to Keep Charchyan in Prison at All Costs, Says Defense Attorney

The trial session for Armen Charchyan, a member of the "Armenia" alliance, has been postponed until November 22. The information was shared on Charchyan's defense attorney Eric Aleksanyan's Facebook page.

"I find it necessary to inform the public that it has been exactly one month since the court appointed a forensic medical examination, yet there is still neither a conclusion nor even a relevant commission established to conduct the examination. In other words, for one month now, the competent authority has shown inaction, and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia has not reacted in any way to this," wrote the attorney.

According to him, the situation once again proves that the authorities of Armenia aim to keep the professor in prison at all costs, which fundamentally embodies elements of legal nihilism.

"I urge the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia to urgently respond to the court's letter and organize the establishment of a medical commission. Otherwise, the full responsibility for the potential irreparable consequences for Charchyan will rest with you, Madam Minister," Aleksanyan wrote.
