Hospitals Face Serious Oxygen Issues; Four Private Facilities Experience Failures
Numerous medical centers, primarily in rural areas, have reported serious oxygen shortages since yesterday. They have indicated that oxygen stations are unable to produce and supply sufficient quantities of oxygen to hospitals serving patients suffering from COVID-19. The lack or absence of oxygen could potentially increase the already rising death toll.
This was reported by Hraparak. When asked by the news outlet whether they were aware of the issue and what steps they were taking to resolve it, the Ministry of Health stated: “Both public and oxygen producing facilities have been mobilized by the Ministry of Health, and they are operating 24/7. Due to the heavy workload of the oxygen stations, there are occasionally failures at some oxygen plants, which specialists are trying to rectify quickly to ensure the flow of oxygen supply.”
In response to the question regarding the source of dissatisfaction if everything possible is being done to improve the situation, the ministry's spokesperson, Hripsime Khachatryan, said: “I do not know where the dissatisfaction is coming from; I do know that there have been failures at four private stations and they are currently working on it, doing everything possible to resolve it quickly.”
It should be noted that problems are mainly present in medical centers in Gegharkunik province, Spitak, and other regions as well.
