We Demand That the Missiles Be Tested, to Understand Whether They Fire or Not: Defense of Former Deputy Chief of the General Staff
The Court of Appeals of Armenia, presided by Judge Sevak Hambardzumyan, rejected today, October 25, the appeal of the defense regarding the release of Stepan Galstyan, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
In an interview with NEWS.am, his lawyer Onik Arakelyan stated that Galstyan disagrees with the court's decision. He noted that there is no conclusion from the appointed expert in the criminal case. “The investigative body has suspended the examinations; a new examination has been appointed,” he said.
The lawyer stated that they demanded, as mentioned in the criminal case, to test the faulty missiles. “The investigative body has concerns that the missiles will work, and the case could collapse. We demand that the missiles be tested, so we understand whether they fire or not,” he added.
Galstyan has been detained in connection with a criminal case investigating abuses in the supply of military ammunition for the needs of the Armed Forces of Armenia and cases of particularly large-scale theft.
