Public Misled About ‘Tushonka’ Supplies From Manvel Grigoryan's House, Attorney Claims
Public misrepresentation has occurred regarding the supplies of ‘tushonka,’ claiming they were brought from Manvel Grigoryan's house, which is an abominable lie, as these products were taken from the EKM warehouses. Moreover, part of the supplies was brought from Martuni in Artsakh, where the appropriate warehouse of EKM was located. We will continue the court hearings, firmly believing that the court will provide an objective assessment of the situation, said Levon Baghdasaryan, attorney of former EKM president and Lieutenant General Manvel Grigoryan, in an interview with 168.am.
He disclosed that the court proceedings related to Manvel Grigoryan's case have entered the active witness interrogation phase.
“The witnesses, who are providing testimonies related to the embezzlement case concerning the notorious ‘tushonka,’ have not mentioned any connection to embezzlement or that Manvel Grigoryan was aware of it. Furthermore, as a human rights defender, I note that blaming a person for embezzlement, for which they are not even legally accountable, regarding these supplies, to say the least, borders on absurdity. Both in the criminal case and in the EKM charter, the legal norms regarding the responsibilities for these kinds of operations are clearly stated,” Levon Baghdasaryan noted.
According to the attorney, following Manvel Grigoryan's death, his case was subject to closure, but the defense team petitioned for the hearings to continue based on grounds of acquittal. Thus, court sessions are held every other week on Tuesdays.
Levon Baghdasaryan also informed that currently, not only Manvel Grigoryan's assets but also those of all his close associates and individuals with direct or indirect connections remain under arrest.
“I should also mention that there is a case pending in the ECHR regarding the illegal detention and torture of Manvel Grigoryan. We have also informed the ECHR about the asset seizure, and I believe the ECHR will provide a legal assessment of this in the future,” the attorney stated.
