Iran and Turkey's Foreign Ministers Discuss Recent Regional Developments
The Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu discussed the latest developments in the relations between Tehran and Ankara, according to Mehr news agency.
The two sides addressed regional and international issues of mutual interest, such as the events occurring in Afghanistan, the upcoming summit in Astana, and the 7th strategic meeting between Iran and Turkey, as well as visits by senior officials from both countries.
Amir-Abdollahian expressed concerns over the increase in terrorist attacks against believers in Afghanistan and stated that he expects Muslim countries to play a more active role in addressing this issue. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu emphasized the necessity of coordinating efforts to prevent terrorist attacks, form a government in Afghanistan, and strengthen the fight against extremist groups.
In turn, Amir-Abdollahian reaffirmed Iran's policy to support the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of neighboring countries. Both foreign ministers highlighted the importance of the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization in strengthening regional cooperation.
