Two more citizens injured in the tragic accident on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway have been transferred to the Armenia Medical Center. This was stated today, October 21, in a conversation with NEWS.am by Ashot Kurghinyan, Deputy Director of the Armenia Medical Center.

The two injured were transferred from the Ashtarak hospital and are currently in the neurosurgery department.

Currently, there are eight citizens receiving treatment at the Armenia Medical Center as a result of the accident, six of whom are in the intensive care unit.

It is noteworthy that yesterday, on October 20, at the 51st kilometer of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, a "GAZEL" brand vehicle veered off the traffic lane to the right and overturned. The driver died at the scene.

As a result of the accident, five citizens lost their lives, and 17 others were taken to hospitals with various injuries.

A criminal case has been opened regarding the violation of rules aimed at ensuring road traffic safety and the breach of safety regulations during mining, construction, or other work. According to the Investigative Committee, safety regulations were not observed during road construction work in the turning section of that roadway.
