Tragic Incident in Kotayk: Bodies of a Couple Found in Bedroom Along with a Note

On October 19, a tragic incident occurred in the Kotayk province. At approximately 00:50, the Emergency Situations Ministry's 9-11 operational management center received a report that the door of an apartment in one of the buildings on 11th street in Zovuni village was closed, and the elderly couple inside was not responding to knocks on the door or phone calls. Rescue assistance was urgently needed to open the door.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, a fire-rescue team from Emergency Situations Ministry's Yerevan unit No. 7 arrived at the scene. Also present were Arthur Zohrabyan, head of the Kotayk provincial police department, and Khoren Barkhoyan, deputy head of the department for operational matters. An operational group from the Nairi police division arrived at the scene, led by the division head Gevorg Nahapetyan and the head of the criminal investigations department.

Upon opening the door, rescuers found the bodies of 67-year-old Larisa Sargsyan and 72-year-old Samvel Gevorgyan in the bedroom on the bed.

A group from the Kotayk regional investigative department of Armenia's Investigative Committee also worked at the scene, led by division chief Mher Minasian. According to G. Shamshyan, a note was found in the house that read: “This is our right decision, we have no relatives,” suggesting that the couple may have committed suicide.
