Tonoyan Demands Participation in Quality Examination of Supplied Ammunition

The former Minister of Defense, Davit Tonoyan's legal team has issued a new statement: "Davit Tonoyan's legal team demands to be included in the actual examination of the qualitative characteristics of the weapons and ammunition supplied to the Armed Forces of Armenia.

As previously reported, the legal team has recently learned that the examination appointed in July 2021 has been left incomplete. The incompleteness of the examination further deepens the legal team's concerns that the investigation is highly subjective, and the NSS is avoiding its implementation, as it realizes it is in a deadlock.

We assert that the charges against Mr. Tonoyan and his detention are absolutely baseless under the conditions of an incomplete examination. The defense has the right to familiarize itself with the decision of the newly appointed examination and make motions regarding it, including a request to participate in the actual conduct of the examination.

As we have already stated, Mr. Tonoyan is confident that the results of the specialized examination will provide substantiated and impartial answers to the claims about the 'substandard' and 'non-compliant with technical standards' weapons and ammunition for the Armed Forces of Armenia."
