Pela Mountain is Under Armenian Control, Deputy Minister of Defense
Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan has confirmed the statement from the National Security Service that Pela Mountain, located in the Syunik region, has not come under Azerbaijani control. He made this remark during a briefing with reporters at the National Assembly.
Sargsyan stated that the Pela Mountain peak is under Armenian control. He assured that the Ministry of Defense is not hiding anything that can be made public and is providing information accordingly.
When asked whether Armenian soldiers are stationed at the peak of Pela Mountain, the deputy minister replied: “Questions regarding troop positions, equipment, number of posts, distances, and similar matters are prohibited by the law on state secrets. If information is not provided about these, the relevant authorities refer to elements of this law.”
Arman Sargsyan also mentioned that he would not answer questions related to the borders, including what fortification works are being carried out in anticipation of winter along the borders.
It should be noted that Kapan's Mayor Gevorg Parsyan claimed that Pela Mountain in Syunik had come under Azerbaijani control.
