«Sputnik M»: Possible Name for Russian Children's Vaccine Against COVID-19
Lilit T.
The coronavirus vaccine designed for children, which is being developed at the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, may be named «Sputnik M». Alexander Gintsburg, the director of the center, stated this, according to «RIA Novosti».
“Most likely, it will retain the ‘Sputnik’ name, similar to the already available drug. The name for the children's vaccine will add the letter M. As I understand it, this will symbolize ‘for the little ones’ (маленькие),” the specialist said.
Clinical trials for the vaccine in adolescents aged 12-17 began in July. Children are vaccinated with the same «Sputnik V», but with a lower dosage.
