Iran Responds Sharply to Aliyev's Claims

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Shamkhani, has responded sharply to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's false statements regarding alleged cooperation between Iran and Armenia in the illegal drug trade.

According to Armenpress, Shamkhani emphasized in a Tweet that disregarding the principles of neighborhood and making false statements cannot be a sign of tactic. He stated, “The accusation against a country globally recognized as a hero in the fight against drugs can have no impact other than a denial of the accuser's words. Beware of the precious traps of the devil.”

During an online meeting with leaders of CIS countries, Aliyev claimed that Armenia had supposedly participated with Iran in drug trafficking to Europe. In response to this unfounded claim, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the joint cooperation between Iran and Armenia in combating the illegal drug trade. Later, the Iranian Foreign Ministry denied Aliyev's statements, emphasizing that such baseless assertions from Baku would receive a corresponding response.
