Today Our Armed Forces Must Start Digging Trenches at the Site of the Destroyed Barracks: Political Scientist

Azerbaijani armed forces' provocative actions have raised significant waves of concern and protest among the Armenian public. I am trying to understand why. Were there different expectations from Azerbaijan? Is their behavior not somewhat predictable? I believe everything is clear and understandable.

This was stated by political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahanazaryan on Facebook. He said, “Now, I want to talk about two important topics. I will try to be brief. First, our people must be prepared to live in this reality. I understand that the so-called ‘era of peace’ sounds very tempting. But reality imposes a completely different era on us, and we must realize that such provocations are simply inevitable and will happen again, possibly on a larger scale.”

“So what should we do in this situation? Should we continue to complain about the Russian peacekeepers and blame the army? That is an option. But I assure you, it is certainly not the best option and definitely not effective. The public, as I have already mentioned, must be prepared for this and form demands. Real demands that we must pursue bringing to life. The very first and foremost demand should be strengthening the Armenian factor in the region and restoring our subjectivity. However, it is impossible to achieve the solution to this problem through complaints. Work is needed, and this is my second important topic mentioned.”

“Now regarding work. Let’s first understand what opportunities Azerbaijan provides us with such actions. a. They justify the need for Russian peacekeepers in the region; b. They once again prove that the coexistence of Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples is simply impossible; c. They demonstrate that a new defensive line needs to be constructed between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, that is, they are providing grounds for positioning; d. They are giving additional arguments for reinforcing and supplying the Artsakh Defense Army with necessary weaponry; e. They provide new tools for the official Yerevan and Stepanakert to justify the necessity of removing Artsakh from Azerbaijan in diplomatic platforms.”

“And this is not all. But on all these points, work must be conducted. Today, at the site of our armed forces' destroyed barracks, trench digging must begin. And let anyone come and try to convince us again that our army should not be entrenched in Artsakh. I hope the response to that will now be provided by the Defense Army.”
