Lukashenko Urges Aliyev and Pashinyan to Avoid Relationship Clarification
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, during an online meeting of the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), urged the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan to refrain from clarifying their relations. "Nikol Vovaevich, you are quite right that the CIS is not a platform for discussing individual issues," said the Belarusian president, responding to a similar remark made by Pashinyan in his speech. "We do not have such powers and functions. However, we are grateful that you and Ilham Heydarovich have informed the heads of state about the situation in your region, as there are our friends living there, both Azerbaijanis and Armenians."
It is noteworthy that prior to this, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had made accusations against Armenia, claiming that it was involved in organizing "international drug trafficking towards Europe" in cooperation with Iran, not handing over maps of mined areas, and destroying "Azerbaijani monuments and settlements" in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
After Aliyev, Pashinyan stated that the CIS is not a platform for mutual accusations, and that Armenia has presented its positions to the relevant international bodies, specifically to the International Court of Justice in The Hague. He added that Armenia is prepared to voice all its claims and positions regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict there.
