Fierce Battles Ongoing in Northeast Afghanistan
Multiple sources close to the anti-Taliban National Resistance Front have reported that clashes are ongoing in the Andarab Valley of Balkh province in northeast Afghanistan since the morning of October 15, as reported by Armenpress.
"Currently, fierce fighting is taking place between the Taliban and the National Resistance Front in Andarab. There are casualties on both sides, but the exact number is unknown," reads a message posted on Twitter.
According to sources, combat actions are also occurring in the Pul-i-Hisar and Deh-Salah districts of Baghlan province. The Taliban, suffering over 60 fatalities, have retreated, with reports of losses among the Front fighters, including the deaths of two field commanders. The Taliban have yet to comment on the situation, but videos circulating on social media show columns of Taliban fighters heading towards the Andarab Valley.
Meanwhile, the Taliban's Ministry of Defense announced on Twitter that Ataullah Omari has been appointed commander of the "Mazar-i-Sharif" corps. The corps headquarters is located at the former base of the Afghan National Army's 209th corps in the outskirts of Mazar-i-Sharif, which is responsible for security in the northern part of the country.
