Trilateral Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan Held: What Was Discussed
On October 14, in the capital of Belarus, Minsk, a meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan was held at the initiative of the Russian side. The foreign ministers discussed issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, including the progress of implementing the trilateral statement from November 9, 2020.
Ararat Mirzoyan, the Armenian Foreign Minister, praised Russia's mediating efforts aimed at ceasefire, emphasizing the importance of the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh in the context of ensuring the security of the Armenian population there.
At the same time, Minister Mirzoyan drew the parties' attention to the fact that certain provisions of the November 9 statement have yet to be implemented, highlighting the urgent and unconditional need for the return of Armenian prisoners of war and other held individuals.
Regarding the meeting that took place in New York with the mediation and participation of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Minister Mirzoyan reiterated that a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must take place within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship and based on the known principles and elements to the parties.
