Russia and the USA Are Also Responsible for Attacks, Says Cavusoglu
Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu addressed the issue of Syria during a press conference following a meeting with his Nicaraguan counterpart. Days ago, two Turkish police officers were killed and two others wounded in northern Syria, which the Turkish side labeled as a "terrorist attack" carried out by Syrian Kurdish forces.
In this context, Cavusoglu stated that Turkey will take all necessary actions to rid northern and northeastern Syria of "terrorists." He emphasized that both Russia and the USA are also responsible for the attacks conducted by the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria.
In this context, he accused Russia of failing to fulfill its promise to remove "terrorists" from the Syrian regions of Tal Rifat and Manbij. He noted, "Considering that they (the USA and Russia) do not keep their word, we are left to manage our affairs independently."
It is noteworthy that Turkey regards the Syrian YPG as an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Recently, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hinted at the possibility of a new military operation in Syria. He stated the day before that in response to the recent attacks on Turkish police officers in northern Syria, "We are determined to neutralize the threats facing us, either through influential forces there (in Syria) or through our own means. The recent attacks on our police officers have filled our cup of patience."
