What Pashinyan Said During His Meeting with Putin
As we have already reported, today in Moscow the fourth face-to-face meeting of Pashinyan and Putin this year has begun. In his opening remarks, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that his frequent meetings with Putin demonstrate the high dynamics of Armenia-Russia relations, as well as a mutual understanding of the importance of the strategic and allied relationship between the two countries.
“We will be talking in both formal and informal settings, having lunch, discussing current issues, and speaking about future prospects. Soon we will have the CIS summit, and we would like to 'synchronize our watches' with you (that is, coordinate our positions and actions) in that regard and, of course, on the main issues of our collaboration, including the current situation and long-term outlook on the issue of regional conflict resolution,” said Putin. “I am very glad to see you, welcome,” he added.
The Prime Minister of Armenia thanked for the invitation, noting that this is already the fourth meeting with the President of the Russian Federation this year. “I believe such frequent meetings demonstrate the high dynamics of our relations and mutual understanding of the importance of our strategic allied relationship. Certainly, there are dynamic processes happening in our region and around the world at the moment, and it is very important for allies to meet often and talk, as you said, 'to synchronize watches.' Unfortunately, it cannot yet be said that there is full stabilization in our region. As you noted, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unresolved, and it is clear that Russia plays a key role in the resolution of the conflict and in ensuring security in our region, being a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. Of course, all these issues are very important; they are key issues, and I am very glad for the opportunity to discuss this entire agenda with you,” said Pashinyan.
