Armed Man Attacks Medical Staff at Artik Hospital

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Shirak region today, October 13. Around 12:30 AM, a man entered the "Artik" medical center and carried out an armed robbery under the threat of a knife.

As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the operative group of the Artik police department promptly arrived at the scene, managed to professionally neutralize the assailant, and subsequently took him into custody.

The suspect attempted to resist the police officers, which compelled them to use physical force against him.

According to G. Shamshyan, it has been established that the robber is a 35-year-old resident of the Shirak region, Arkadi M. He entered the hospital reception, locked the door with a key from inside, then drew a knife and threatened the reception nurse Satenik V. and the on-duty nurse Anna S., demanding that they place their mobile phones and cash on the table.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident by the Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, and Arkadi M. has been arrested. The knife used in the crime has also been recovered.

According to reports, Arkadi M. had been previously convicted and entered the hospital at that late hour, telling staff that he was feeling unwell and requested that they measure his blood pressure.
