Iran Claims to Have Evidence of Terrorist Groups Transferred to Azerbaijan

Iran has announced that it possesses documents confirming that terrorist groups have been transferred to Azerbaijan, according to Iran Front Page.

In an interview with Iran's national radio on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stated, "Iran has even obtained their conversations (audio files) and is keeping them under intelligence surveillance."

He added, "We have told the Azerbaijani side that this is unacceptable, and their highest officials have promised to address our concerns."

Khatibzadeh explained, "Our relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan are very warm, friendly, and multilayered, and visits by officials from both sides continue."

He noted, "There are third groups in the region that do not wish for Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan to have friendly relations. Accordingly, they publish false and misleading information and attempt to influence the sentiments of the people in both countries to achieve their own objectives."

"In the developments in the Caucasus, we have emphasized that the rights of neighboring countries should be restored. Accordingly, we welcomed the restoration of the rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan. However, we believe that war is not the right method to understand this and have stressed the necessity of diplomatic relations," he said.

Khatibzadeh also stated, "Iran and Russia have assisted in conducting diplomatic negotiations between the warring parties," referring to the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan last year over Nagorno-Karabakh.
