If a Passenger Is Not Wearing a Mask, They Will Be Removed from Transport and Fined: New Decision

The State Inspectorate for Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety of Armenia continues to monitor compliance with anti-epidemic rules regarding Covid-19 on public transport in collaboration with the Police of Armenia and the Health and Labor Inspectorate.

The State Inspectorate for Urban Development informed 168.am that the monitoring is performed jointly, but it is the Health Inspectorate that prepares the reports and carries out subsequent administrative actions.

Inspectors from the State Inspectorate check for the availability of disinfectant liquid, the presence of relevant notices regarding Covid-19, which must be posted in transport facilities, as well as the wearing of masks by passengers and drivers.

“In recent days and from now on, control has been tightened, and if, for instance, a passenger is not wearing a mask, they will be removed from the transport, a report will be compiled, and they will be fined. A major violation is the lack of mask usage by drivers and the presence of low-quality disinfectant liquid. Various types of liquid have been used, aside from alcohol-based solutions. There have been cases where there was no disinfectant liquid at all. In larger vehicles, two places should be equipped with disinfectant liquid, but in some cases, only one was available. We provide directions to correct these violations before reaching the final bus stop,” clarified Elena Zohrebian, head of the Awareness, Consultation, and Public Engagement Department of the State Inspectorate for Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety of Armenia.

The Health and Labor Inspectorate also reported that during the last week, a total of 1,639 inspections were carried out, resulting in 255 violations being recorded.
