Two Young Men Detained on Suspicion of Drug Possession and Use

On October 10, operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Minor Affairs Department of the Ashtarak Police Division acted on received intelligence. At 3 PM, two young men aged 21 and 19, residents of Yerevan's Lenin Street and Yeghvard, were detained in the Mugni neighborhood of Ashtarak on suspicion of drug possession and use.

A personal search of one of the Yerevan residents revealed approximately 200 grams of cannabis-like substances in their pockets, along with a glass pipe containing traces of burnt cannabis. During the search of the Yeghvard resident, a cigarette box with about 10 grams of similar substances was found.

They stated that the discovered items were cannabis, collected from cannabis plants growing wild in the Ashtarak gorge for personal use. An expert examination has been appointed, and the circumstances are under investigation.
