The Number of Unemployed in Turkey Approaches 1 Million

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has published data on the unemployment rate among citizens aged 15 and over, reports Ermenihaber.

According to the data, in August 2021, the number of unemployed in Turkey increased by 11,000 compared to the previous month, reaching 965,000. Consequently, the unemployment rate has risen to 12.1 percent.

The number of employed individuals decreased by 14,000 in August 2021, totaling 28,706,000, which accounts for 45 percent of the working-age population.

According to TÜİK, the unemployment rate for the age group 15-24 decreased by 0.1 percent compared to the previous year, settling at 22.7 percent.
