Court Rejects Gevorg Loretsyan’s Request for Release on Bail

The lawyer of Gevorg Loretsyan, a former deputy minister of sports charged with soliciting a bribe, Levon Sahakyan, presented a petition today to lift Loretsyan's imprisonment and replace it with a bail of 5 million drams. However, the court rejected the request.

Gevorg Loretsyan, who has been in office since October 2018, is accused of demanding a bribe of 2 million drams from Hrachik Kananyan, the owner and CEO of the commercial organizations 'Luar' and 'Elite Sport.' Loretsyan's driver, Eduard Hovhannisyan, is accused of assisting him, while Hrachik Kananyan is charged with giving the bribe.

Loretsyan denies the accusations against him.
