Peacekeepers Were Present When Azerbaijani Sniper Killed a Man, Says Martakert Mayor

A resident of Martakert, aged 55, was killed by gunfire from the Azerbaijani side in Artsakh. This was reported to Tert.am by Martakert Mayor Mikael Gyurjyan.

According to him, the incident occurred about an hour ago while the victim was working in the field. "He was plowing the land to sow barley. The Russian was sitting next to him when he was shot. The fire was directed towards our lands. The distance from the border to this area is approximately 1-2 kilometers," he said, noting that several representatives of the Russian peacekeeping forces were present in the area at the time.

“One of the peacekeepers was seated in the tractor. There were about 5-6 people in the area,” Gyurjyan added, noting that the police are currently working in the area and further details are not available at this time. According to Gyurjyan, the overall situation in Martakert has been calm.
