On October 6, gunfire was reported in the Gegharkunik region. Around 22:25, the Gavar Medical Center alerted the Gavar Police Department that a citizen with gunshot wounds had been transferred to them, reports shamshyan.com.
Medical staff informed the police and investigators that the victim was unable to explain the circumstances due to being in surgery. While doctors fought for his life, police discovered that the victim was 43-year-old Yasha Afrikyan, a resident of the Noratus village in Gegharkunik.
Following urgent operational-investigative measures, certain circumstances surrounding the incident were clarified. It was revealed that Y. Afrikyan, along with 39-year-olds Hovhannes Afrikyan and Artush Grigoryan, had gone to the area known as 'Kai Dik' in their village around 20:00 the same day in a VAZ 21099 vehicle owned by A. Grigoryan, where their conversation escalated into a dispute and a brawl.
After the altercation, A. Grigoryan fired shots from his 12-gauge smoothbore hunting shotgun, resulting in bodily injuries to both Y. Afrikyan and H. Afrikyan. Subsequently, Y. Afrikyan was transported to the Gavar Medical Center, where doctors diagnosed him with multiple fragmentary injuries to various parts of his body, while H. Afrikyan declined medical assistance.
Law enforcement agencies are on the trail of A. Grigoryan to ascertain his whereabouts and deployed an operational group to that location. Eventually, following explanatory work led by the regional police chief and the head of the Gavar Police Department, A. Grigoryan appeared at the Gavar Police Department, arriving in his VAZ 21099 vehicle and bringing the smoothbore shotgun with him.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and forensic, ballistics, and investigative examinations have been ordered. According to sources, A. Grigoryan was released on signature as per the investigator's decision.
