VIDEO: 19-Year-Old Gagik Mkrtchyan's Beheaded Body Was Returned to His Mother in April, Says MP Papikyan

“Were you planning to ensure the right to life of the 19-year-old Gagik Mkrtchyan, who was beheaded and whose body was handed over to his mother in April by an airplane arriving from Azerbaijan, with such simple actions?” asked Ripsime Stambulyan, an MP from the Armenia faction, addressing Deputy Prime Minister Suren Papikyan during a session of the National Assembly.

The MP noted that it has been a year since the war, yet the total number of captives remains unknown. Furthermore, there are many pieces of evidence confirming cases of captivity, but Azerbaijan refuses to acknowledge, for example, Elza Sargsyan born in 1943, and mother and daughter Anahit Varyan and Tunyans. There are more than 200 missing persons, our captives continue to be tortured, and many fates have been distorted.

Stambulyan pointed out that in these circumstances, how the government plans to negotiate maps for the release of captives when no steps are being taken to find out the complete number and identity of Armenian captives in Azerbaijan.

In response to the questions raised by the MP, Papikyan avoided providing coherent answers, stating that the Armenian authorities are doing everything possible to return all citizens of Armenia, both confirmed and unconfirmed, whose possibility of being alive exists today.
