Emergency Incident in Ararat Region: Electric Locomotive Turns Stuck Car into Metal Scrap
On October 6, an emergency incident occurred in the Ararat region. Around 00:30, the 9-11 operational management center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a call reporting that a train had collided with a car near a stop in the village of Aygevan, causing a gas leak and requiring the assistance of firefighters.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the firefighting team from the Ararat regional emergency service arrived promptly with one combat unit. Officers from the 1st platoon of the 2nd police battalion of the traffic police also arrived quickly, led by the platoon commander Grigor Poghosyan and squad commander Karapet Harutyunyan.
It was revealed that the electric locomotive numbered 1613, model “ВЛ10-261,” had collided with a VAZ 2106 car owned by Aramais Mikaelyan at the end of Zoravar Andranik Street in the village of Aygevan. Fortunately, there were no injuries.
The firefighters disconnected power from the car and then removed it from the railway tracks. Employees of the South Caucasus Railway also acted swiftly. The driver of the car reported that he was crossing the tracks when the vehicle experienced a problem, and after briefly stepping away to address the issue, he returned to find his car turned into metal scrap.
