VIDEO: Goris-Kapan Road is Safe, Cars Wait a Maximum of 5-15 Minutes: MP
Armen Khachatryan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract faction in the National Assembly of Armenia, reiterated today in parliament that the Goris-Kapan road is safe, claiming that cars wait a maximum of 5-15 minutes before continuing their journey under the escort of Russian and Armenian border guards.
It should be noted that the mayors of Syunik have repeatedly raised concerns to the contrary, stating that vehicles are waiting for 1-2 hours, which raises serious alarm.
According to the ruling party MP, the establishment of an Azerbaijani police checkpoint along the road is normal. He mentioned that, according to a map from the Soviet Union, this area was under Azerbaijan's control, although he could not specify which year’s map he was referring to and hurried to leave when pressed for an answer.
In response to a journalist's observation that the authorities' statements about the road belonging to Azerbaijan are being used by Azerbaijan against Armenia, the MP accused the journalists.
It is worth recalling that Aliyev has stated that he is ready to meet with Pashinyan, mentioning that they are receiving positive signals.
