No Attack Occurred on the Caretaker in the Cemetery: He Organized Everything, Set His Car on Fire, Then Stripped and Tied Himself Up
According to SHAMSHYAN.com, officers from the criminal investigation and community police divisions of the Nairi police have uncovered new details regarding the incident that involved the alleged beating of 48-year-old Koryun Asatryan, a resident of the village of Zovuni, and the burning of his unregistered VAZ 2101 vehicle in the cemetery area on October 2.
As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of extensive, correct, and well-coordinated actions by the police, K. Asatryan confessed to having staged a crime. There was no attack against him; being in a non-coherent and inadequate state, he set his own vehicle on fire, then stripped and tied himself up.
The arriving rescue personnel from Yerevan's emergency response unit number 13, along with doctors, provided him with aid on the scene and transported him to ‘Armenia’ medical center.
Materials are being prepared at the investigative department of the Ani police in connection with this incident. As previously reported from the scene by a photojournalist, an emergency occurred in the Kotayk region on October 2. Around 11:10 PM, a call was received at the 911 crisis management center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, reporting that a fire had erupted in the cemetery located on 4th street in the village of Zovuni.
The emergency response unit number 13 promptly arrived on site with one firefighting team. The firefighters noticed a burning vehicle in the cemetery area and began their firefighting operations. Approximately 30-40 meters away from the burning car, rescuers discovered a partially naked man who was tied up.
The firefighters removed their clothes and dressed the individual, releasing him from his bindings, and then assisted him in being transported to ‘Armenia’ medical center by the promptly arriving ambulance. An operative group from the Nairi police also arrived at the scene, led by the department head Vaghinak Avetisyan, alongside an operative group from the Nor Hajn police department headed by Artak Mkrtchyan.
Investigator Hambardzum Harutyunyan from the Nairi police's investigative department was also working on-site. The police discovered that the victim was Koryun Asatryan, a 48-year-old resident of Zovuni village, who works as a caretaker at the mentioned cemetery.
