Police Conduct 'I Can't Sleep at All on Friday Night' Operation, 35 Vehicles Towed

According to Shamshyan.com, on October 1, under the orders of General Major Vahe Ghazaryan, the head of the Armenian Police, the patrol service of Yerevan carried out the operation named 'I Can't Sleep at All on Friday Night' in the capital.

As reported by the news outlet, before commencing the operation, the patrol officers gathered at Republic Square and went on a 'hunt'.

As a result of the day's events, 10 vehicles were identified as having violated permissible limits with tinted windows, 4 vehicles did not have license plates, 33 drivers were driving under the influence, and 42 drivers were operating their vehicles without a driver's license. When officers stopped 23 drivers to check their documents, these drivers resorted to a scene reminiscent of popular actor Karp Khachvankyan's character from 'Taxi-Taxi', claiming they had lost their documents or forgotten them at home.

Additionally, 32 vehicles had expired insurance, 2 vehicles had 'cabin doors' installed, one vehicle contained narcotics, and 10 vehicles had illegal cold weapons inside. Among these was an automatic weapon, while one vehicle had a pistol (type being verified). Two vehicles had been modified with silencers, and a total of 35 vehicles were towed to a protected area of the Yerevan patrol service.

Some drivers of expensive cars tried to 'play a movie' with the patrol officers, not complying with their legal order to 'stop'. However, after moving a few meters ahead, they found themselves in the line of sight of other patrol officers, after which they humbly complied with the patrol service's legal demands. Some of these vehicles were also towed to the 'ploshchadka'.
