Director of Yerevan's Number 122 Primary School to be Arrested
The RA Prosecutor General's Office reports that the appeal by the prosecution regarding the preventive measure applied to M.H., the director of the "Yerevan Alexander Blok's Number 122 Primary School" municipal institution, has been satisfied.
As previously reported, criminal proceedings were initiated at the RA Police concerning the apparent crimes of demanding and receiving large bribes by an official either personally or through an intermediary, pursuant to Articles 311, part 3, clause 3; 312, part 2; and 313, part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. On September 8, 2021, the director M.H. was arrested.
Based on sufficient evidence gathered during the preliminary investigation, he was charged with committing an offense specified in Article 311, part 3, clause 3 of the RA Criminal Code. The investigator submitted a request to the first instance court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan to select detention as a preventive measure against him. However, on the court's decision on September 10, 2021, the request was rejected. A non-departure signature was selected as the preventive measure for him and another individual, H.K.
As the investigation continued, on September 13, 2021, the charges against the school director were modified and supplemented. New charges were brought against him under Article 311, parts 1 and 3 (two instances) of the RA Criminal Code, and the following day, the investigator submitted a request to the general jurisdiction court of Yerevan for his detention as a preventive measure. This request was also rejected by the court's ruling.
The Prosecutor's Office of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan appealed the mentioned judicial acts. As a result of the hearings today, on September 30, the RA Court of Appeal upheld the prosecution's motions, and a decision was made to select detention as a preventive measure against the accused M.H.
The decision of the prosecutor overseeing the legality of the preliminary investigation will be sent to the police to carry out the necessary actions stemming from this ruling.
