In the early hours of September 28, at 2:30 AM, the Arabkir police department received a report from the "Kanaker-Zeytun" Medical Center stating that a 29-year-old man from Yerevan had arrived seeking medical assistance for a gunshot wound. According to his testimony, he sustained the injury in front of Victory Park. The medical facility also reported that a 27-year-old woman had been transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound from the same vicinity, who subsequently died.
The police dispatched several operational groups, investigators, and forensic experts to the scene. An inspection of the area revealed 14 shell casings from a firearm, fragments of damaged car windows, and other evidence. Through various operational-investigative measures, law enforcement officials uncovered several circumstances of the incident, revealing the commission of a particularly serious crime.
Preliminary information indicates that on September 27 at around 9 PM, the man who sought medical assistance met with a 24-year-old acquaintance at one of the cafes near the intersection of Sayat Nova Avenue and Alek Manukyan Street, where a dispute escalated into a physical altercation. Later, at approximately 1:30 AM on September 28, the injured young man met his friend near the underground passage in front of Victory Park on Abovyan Avenue. At that moment, a 28-year-old man from Dros Street in Yerevan emerged from a vehicle, shouted insults, and opened fire on them with a handgun.
As a result of the gunfire, the injured young man's wife, who was inside the vehicle, sustained injuries and died after being transported to the hospital. Hours after the incident, police apprehended the individual who had fired the shots and took him to the Arabkir police department, presenting him to the body conducting the investigation. He has been arrested. Additionally, at the Bavra border checkpoint, another person suspected of aiding in the particularly serious crime was also arrested while attempting to leave Armenia. Expert examinations have been ordered, and the investigation into the criminal case continues.
