Israeli 55-Year-Old Suspected of Killing 56-Year-Old Man in Yerevan

On September 28, the head of the investigative division of the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative regions of the Yerevan Investigation Department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, Roman Mahmoudyan, appointed senior investigator Vahe Ajemyan as the head of an investigative group. A request was filed with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, Ajapnyak seat, to impose a two-month detention as a measure of restraint against 55-year-old Yuri M., a citizen of Armenia and Israel.

According to shamshyan.com, after a closed court session, the court has granted the investigator's request, and Yuri M., who is suspected of killing 56-year-old Vaghik E., has been detained and transferred from the court to the penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

According to earlier reports from the crime scene by photojournalists, a murder occurred in Yerevan on September 26. At around 00:50, the Mashtots police received an urgent call from the Emergency Situations Ministry's Rescue Service's 9-11 Crisis Management Center requesting assistance to open the door of one of the apartments on Sisakyan Street 6. Rescue workers and police rang the doorbell for a long time, trying to get a response, as Mashtots police had received operational information that someone was inside.

Seeing that the door was not opening, the rescuers, in the presence of witnesses, forced open the door, where they discovered a man's corpse on the living room floor. Several citizens gathered at the scene, who refused to speak on camera, commented, “While the police and investigators were examining the corpse in the living room under the guidance of the forensic expert, it was good that the police were able to properly orient themselves and found the alleged suspect in another room of the apartment.”

According to information from the site, the suspect is 55-year-old Yuri M., a citizen of Armenia and Israel, who was taken from the apartment to the Mashtots police station. The police and investigators determined at the scene that the deceased was Vaghik E., a resident of the specified apartment. According to the preliminary conclusion of the forensic expert, there were multiple injuries on his body from sharp cutting-piercing objects.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 104, part 1 of the RA Criminal Code in the investigative division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative regions. The police and investigators discovered traces of blood at the crime scene, several bloody knives, and one kitchen knife was found on the neck of the deceased.
