Russia Will Not Tolerate Terrorist Attacks from Idlib De-escalation Zone: Topic for Putin-Erdogan Meeting
Putin and Erdogan will discuss the implementation of agreements regarding Idlib in their upcoming meeting. Russia will not tolerate terrorist attacks from the Idlib de-escalation zone. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, commenting on the meeting scheduled in Sochi between the presidents of Russia and Turkey in a few days.
As reported by tsargrad.tv, Lavrov detailed that Turkey has been slow in fulfilling its obligations regarding Idlib. According to the Russian Foreign Minister, this will be one of the topics of discussion during the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The discussion will center around the Idlib de-escalation zone in Syria, where responsibilities for ensuring security are shared between Russia and Turkey. However, there have been regular attacks by militants from the Turkish area of responsibility.
“Russia will not tolerate terrorist attacks from the Idlib de-escalation zone,” emphasized the Russian foreign minister. He added that Russia is using force in northwestern Syria in accordance with the requirements of the UN Security Council resolution, which calls for an uncompromising fight against terrorists.
