China Threatens First Nuclear Strike Against the US

The former Deputy Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs of the UN, Sha Zukang, has urged Chinese authorities to adopt a more aggressive stance in light of actions taken by the United States, according to the Daily Mail.

The diplomat stated that Beijing should abandon its policy of not being the first to use nuclear weapons and respond to new alliances that Washington is creating.

Chinese diplomat Sha Zukang has called on Beijing to be prepared to deliver a first nuclear strike against the US. Specifically, this relates to the AUKUS alliance between the US, Australia, and the UK, which demonstrates these countries' increasing military presence near China, according to Zukang.

Ten days ago, Australia agreed to a new partnership in defense and security with the UK and the US under AUKUS and announced its withdrawal from a “historic contract” for the construction of 12 Barracuda-class submarines with the French company Naval Group. Paris interpreted this as an act of betrayal. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian described Canberra's decision to break the agreement as a “stab in the back.”

In turn, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian stated that the US, UK, and Australia’s agreement threatens regional peace and stability and also provokes an arms race.
