Russia Changes Command of Peacekeepers in Artsakh for the Second Time in a Month
Russian peacekeepers stationed in Artsakh will have a new commander. Major General Mikhail Kosobokov is stepping down as a meeting is currently taking place at the Ministry of Defense of Armenia between the leadership of the Armenian Ministry of Defense and a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The new commander of the Russian peacekeeping force in Nagorno-Karabakh, Lieutenant General Gennady Anashkin, is being introduced to the leadership of the Armenian Ministry of Defense. This was reported by Armeniasputnik.am.
Gennady Anashkin has previously served in Yugoslavia and participated in the wars in Chechnya as well as in the conflict in South Ossetia.
It is noteworthy that the first commander of the Russian peacekeeping force in Artsakh was Rustam Muradov, who recently completed his mission. He was then briefly replaced by Major General Mikhail Kosobokov. Now, the baton is being passed to Gennady Anashkin.
Gennady Vladimir Anashkin was born in 1968 in Kuibyshev (Samara). He was drafted in 1987 and served in Germany. He later graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School. Since 1998, he has served in the 116th Parachute Airborne Separate Battalion and has held the position of company commander.
