Nairi Hokhikyan: Waiting with Rubbed Hands for Iran and Azerbaijan to Clash and Armenia to Benefit is, Mildly Speaking, Not Serious

Journalist Nairi Hokhikyan's statement expresses concern over the escalating tension between Iran and Azerbaijan. He notes that as the situation develops, new accusations and threats will emerge through 100th level officials and clerics.

“But to truly understand the regional political reality and realpolitik, we must recognize that Iran does not need any tension in its relations, and Azerbaijan is also not prepared for war since it lost too many human and military resources during the 2020 conflict. Waiting with rubbed hands for Iran and Azerbaijan to clash, hoping Armenia will benefit in the middle, is, mildly speaking, not serious, if not outright foolish,” he stated.

Hokhikyan does not rule out the possibility that Azerbaijan could be used by the United States, Great Britain, and Israel as a launchpad for aggression against Iran. He has long argued that one of the main objectives of the recent conflict over Artsakh was the positioning of Turkish and terrorist groups near Iran's northern regions.

“In any case, at this moment, I do not see a clear danger of large-scale war,” he concluded.
