New Agreement and New Tariffs: Haypost Announcement

The number of shipments from Armenia to Russia has increased by 203 percent, according to a statement from Haypost’s press service. It was noted that the number of shipments to Armenia through Russian post has risen by 90 percent compared to the same period last year. Throughout this entire period, the company has delivered more than 36,000 packages.

“The parcels stand out with the fastest growth rate in the overall export volumes to Armenia. Within a year, their number has increased nearly 5 times, from 4,600 to 22,200. The number of parcels and small packages sent from Armenia to Russia has tripled, reaching 29,000. Overall shipment volumes from Armenia to Russia have increased eight times, from 15 tons to 126 tons. There is a particularly large increase in the volume of parcels/packages, which has risen tenfold,” the statement said.

To boost trade between the two countries, Russian Post and Haypost have reached an agreement to nearly triple the reduction in shipping tariffs for deliveries from Armenia to Russia and vice versa. Specifically, effective from December 2020, the shipping cost for parcels weighing up to 1 kg sent from Russia to Armenia and from Armenia to Moscow and the Moscow region is set at 420 Russian rubles (2,950 drams), including VAT. The additional charge for each extra kilogram is 180 Russian rubles (1,250 drams). For deliveries from Armenia to other regions of Russia, the cost is 860 rubles (6,000 drams) for parcels weighing up to 1 kg, and 215 rubles (1,500 drams) for each additional kilogram.

Haypost CEO Hayk Karapetyan stated that the cooperation between the two companies is developing at a rapid pace. “Clearly, our relationship's potential is not exhausted, as evidenced by the continuous increase of Armenian goods exported to the Russian market. We expect growth in the sales sector as well, through collaboration with Russian commercial platforms like Ozone, Wildberries, and AliExpress, which send goods to Armenia via Russian Post,” Karapetyan noted. It is worth mentioning that currently, Russian Post handles over 25% of the total number of retail export shipments and 90% of all shipments by distant foreign exporters. According to the first half of 2021 results, the volume of exports from small and medium businesses has increased by 23% compared to the same period in 2020.
