Where is Khachatur Sukiasyan's Brother Detained?

The decision to detain Robert Sukiasyan, the brother of well-known businessman and ruling party MP Khachatur Sukiasyan, is of a formal nature.

According to information from "Factinfo," shortly after the court's ruling to detain Robert Sukiasyan, he was transferred from the "Armvinar" correctional facility to a civilian hospital, where he has been for about two months now.

His attorney, Gor Mikaelyan, confirmed that Sukiasyan is currently in a civilian hospital but did not specify when he was transferred. According to him, Sukiasyan has heart failure, a spinal hernia, and prostate cancer, and he must undergo surgery, with preparatory work being conducted for the operation.

It should be noted that the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Vache Margaryan, had decided to extend Sukiasyan's detention for two more months. During the court session, issues related to Sukiasyan's health problems were also raised; however, the court decided to extend the detention period.

Notably, Judge Vache Margaryan was the same judge who first decided on Sukiasyan's detention, granting the investigator's request.

Attorney Gor Mikaelyan stated that an appeal has been filed against the court's decision, contesting both the existence of reasonable suspicion and the grounds for detention. In particular, the attorney emphasized that from the very beginning, he pointed out that Robert Sukiasyan's actions do not exhibit the characteristics of hooliganism; therefore, according to the attorney, there is no reasonable suspicion under the hooliganism statute.

Regarding the grounds for detention, the attorney believes there is no issue of hindering the investigation through influencing individuals. He stated that there are videos in the case that show everything. Additionally, according to the attorney, the investigation is already "rounded off" since the main investigative actions have been recorded and necessary investigative actions have been conducted.

"Robert Sukiasyan's behavior since day one indicates that he has not engaged in any conduct to obstruct the investigation agency. On the contrary, he voluntarily presented himself, submitted the weapons, and explained the circumstances under which he fired shots. In this context, thinking that he might obstruct at this point is senseless. If he were to obstruct, he would not have shown up or submitted the weapons at all," the attorney noted.

When asked whether it was possible to conduct investigative actions involving him after his transfer to the civilian hospital, the attorney mentioned that certain actions have been carried out on-site. However, he did not specify what actions were conducted or if any confrontation occurred, citing the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation and stating he could not disclose what actions were taken or what evidence is being collected.
