Azerbaijanis Open Fire on Harvesters in Artsakh: Investigative Committee Provides Details

The Artsakh Investigative Committee has registered a case regarding incidents occurring on September 1, 2023, at approximately 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM, as well as on September 2, 2023, around 11:00 AM. The case pertains to gunfire directed at a group of civilians engaged in harvesting in the vicinity of the village of Aknaghbyur in the Askeran region. The shots were allegedly fired by unknown servicemen of the Azerbaijani armed forces from their military position.

The investigation highlights that the shooting was carried out with direct intent to unlawfully take the lives of two or more individuals based on national, racial, or religious hatred, or motivated by religious fanaticism. The victims include four residents from the communities of Khnapat and Sarushen in the Askeran region, as well as residents of Stepanakert city.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
