Armenians Lacking Legal Status Face Problems in Russia: 'Zhoghovurd'
'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports: 'Armenian citizens in Russia have found themselves in an uncomfortable situation due to a decree issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 15 regarding temporary measures for regulating the legal status of foreign citizens and stateless persons in Russia.
This applies to foreign citizens and stateless persons who arrived in Russia before March 15 of last year, including those who do not have legal grounds to stay in Russia as of June 16 of this year.
'Zhoghovurd' learned that these citizens have until the end of this month to apply to the territorial bodies of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the resolution of their legal status. Consequently, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs is urging foreign citizens currently in the country to regularize their legal status by September 30; otherwise, starting October 1, the temporary ban on applying measures against foreign citizens and stateless persons in Russia, who are in violation of migration legislation, will be lifted. This includes deportation measures, entry bans, and decisions regarding shortened periods of temporary stay.
This means that Armenian citizens who do not regularize their legal status by September 30 will be forced to return to Armenia,' the newspaper states. For more details, refer to today’s edition of the newspaper.
