We Have Never Initiated Attacks on Any Country: Makunts' Interview with Al Arabiya
Shortly after assuming the role of Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in the United States, Lilith Makunts is already taking steps to give new impetus to Armenian-American relations. According to a report by Armenpress, this was mentioned in an interview with Al Arabiya, which prepared a feature with the first female ambassador of Armenia in the USA.
Makunts, 37, stated, "We are still in a recovery phase after the war, both mentally and economically." Speaking about the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh in 2020 and resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani issue, she noted that the best way forward is through the OSCE Minsk Group.
"In 1994, when we won the [First Nagorno-Karabakh War], we returned all prisoners of war. It is strange that they (editor's note: Azerbaijan) continue to hold Armenian soldiers captive," Makunts highlighted.
She emphasized that many Armenians have been displaced due to the actions of the Azerbaijani side, and now the Armenian government is devising laws to assist internally displaced persons.
"Armenia is proud of its democracy. After the war, we decided that we must increase diplomatic efforts in major capitals around the world. Our only desire is peace. We have never initiated attacks on any country and do not plan to do so," stated Ambassador Makunts of Armenia in the USA.
