Andranik Kocharyan Discusses Using Zangezur Instead of Syunik
The Chairman of the National Assembly’s Defense and Security Committee Andranik Kocharyan addressed the fact that he used the name Zangezur instead of Syunik during a conversation with journalists today. This was reported by Aysor.am.
“You noticed that Mr. Ghazinyan is struggling to cope with it when we might confuse the names we have used for decades,” he said.
In response to a clarifying question about whether he truly got confused, Kocharyan advised not to worry. “Don’t worry, there’s nothing extraordinary about it. A representative of the government can get confused too. Why is it only the opposition representative who can get confused? No, they are deliberately getting confused,” he stated.
Although Kocharyan did not elaborate on when any opposition representative had confused place names, he emphasized that he would prefer there to be no confusion regarding issues related to national security.
Kocharyan was referring to reports about enemy advancements around the Berd area, which, according to him, do not reflect reality. He mentioned that this information was conveyed to him by the Chief of the General Staff.
