It is Difficult to Talk about Complete Independence Today: Ohanyan
It is difficult to talk about complete independence today because sovereignty is first and foremost expressed by having territory, population, and economy, and being the owner of that territory, as well as being the owner of territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders. This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the 'Armenia' faction in the National Assembly, during a conversation with reporters at the Yerablur Pantheon.
“Today, when Azerbaijanis are in our borders, organizing provocations in many places and behaving defiantly, it is very difficult to talk about complete sovereignty. Ultimately, we must understand the following: when has it been easy for the Armenian people? We have always been in a struggle, there have always been difficulties, and I believe that any such blow should be seen as an opportunity to strengthen ourselves and to overcome this situation,” Ohanyan said.
When asked whether we can overcome this situation, Ohanyan responded, “I think we can. We need to be more organized. With the current authorities, who are leading our country towards decline day by day, this is evident; we are not just making this up.”
He also informed that the 'Armenia' faction received an invitation to participate in the event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence. “I don’t think we can attend this event because organizing such a colorful event, especially when we are not aware of the scenario, we have refused to participate,” Ohanyan said.
