No Contact Between Armenian and Turkish Officials Despite Government Readiness for Such Communications - Gevorgyan

Armenia is ready to initiate dialogue with Turkey at the highest level if effective communications begin between officials in Yerevan and Ankara. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Armenia, Mane Gevorgyan, in an interview with TASS agency.

“The Prime Minister discussed his vision for starting negotiations with Turkey during the last parliamentary session, stating that working discussions should precede high-level communications. There has been no contact between Armenian and Turkish officials, although the Armenian government is ready for such communications. In the case of effective work, Armenia will also be ready for high-level meetings,” she said.

The agency recalls that on Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told reporters that Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili had conveyed an offer from Prime Minister Pashinyan to meet, adding that Armenia must take positive steps for that to happen.

TASS adds that the Armenian Prime Minister has previously stated multiple times that his team is prepared to normalize relations with Turkey, open borders, and unblock communications. According to Pashinyan, this step would bring peace and stability to the region.
