Greece’s Foreign Ministry Files Complaint Against Turkey
The Greek Foreign Ministry has lodged a complaint with the Turkish side regarding the "illegal fishing activities" in Greek territorial waters. This was stated in a release by Greece's diplomatic agency.
Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias has instructed the Greek embassy in Ankara to file a complaint against the illegal fishing by Turkish fishing vessels in our territorial waters, as part of safeguarding our national sovereignty and defending European achievements, the statement emphasized.
Furthermore, it notes that the Greek Foreign Minister condemned the actions of Turkish coast guard vessels that accompany Turkish fishing boats and pursue Greek fishing vessels.
"Illegal fishing in Greek territorial waters also violates European legal norms, in addition to being another infringement of international maritime law by Turkey," the statement from Greece's foreign policy agency said. It also clarifies that Turkey unfortunately continues its criminal behavior.
"The Greek side, committed to protecting its rights in accordance with international law, will not leave any challenge unanswered," the Greek Foreign Ministry concluded.
