Armenia to Resume Ferry Services Between Poti and Caucasus Ports, Says Mher Grigoryan

Armenia and South Caucasus Railways intend to restore ferry services between Poti port (Georgia) and Caucasus port (Russia, Krasnodar region). This announcement was made today by Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan at the Armenian-Russian Business Forum held in Yerevan.

Grigoryan noted that under the agreements reached between the countries, the total investment volume of South Caucasus Railways has increased by 3.7 billion rubles over the period leading up to 2024. As a result, modern passenger cars, new electric trains for domestic transportation, and freight semi-wagons were acquired in 2021. In 2022, the acquisition of a new four-car electric train is planned.

Thus, by 2025, the South Caucasus Railways will nearly fully renew its passenger and freight rolling stock. “In the near future, we plan to resume ferry services on the Poti port - Caucasus port route together with South Caucasus Railways, which will allow for an increase in the turnover of goods between our countries,” Grigoryan stated.
