How Many Turkish Citizens Have Applied for Asylum from Armenia in the Last 3 Years
In the last three years, 673 foreign nationals have sought asylum in Armenia, the majority of whom are citizens of Iran. This was reported by the Migration Service, according to NEWS.am.
According to the source, in 2018, a total of 218 individuals applied for asylum in Armenia, of which 57 were from Iran, 55 from Iraq, 21 from Syria, 17 from Yemen, 12 from Afghanistan, and 7 from Turkey.
In 2019, out of the 248 individuals who sought asylum in Armenia, 107 were from Iran, 37 from Syria, 33 from Cuba, 21 from Iraq, and 7 from Turkey.
The number of people seeking asylum from Armenia decreased in 2020, with 207 applications received, including 96 from Iran, 25 from Syria, 22 from Lebanon, 10 from Cuba, and 6 from Turkey.
Last year, among the Turkish citizens who sought asylum from Armenia, four were male and two were female. From 2018 to 2020, 20 Turkish citizens sought asylum from Armenia, with 8 granted refugee status and 3 applications rejected.
