“Be Sure to Participate, Our Heroes Want This”: Gegham Nazaryan’s Call to the Families of Heroic Soldiers
Member of the National Assembly from the Armenia faction Gegham Nazaryan wrote: “Parents, women, and family members of heroic soldiers, we have expressed our stance regarding the large-scale show planned on Republic Square through statements and protests. I don’t think there could be more effective ways to convey our stance to the public and the ruling group after all this.
Parents, women, daughters, sons, and family members of our heroic soldiers should always remember who their parent, son, daughter, sister, and brother are. We cannot adopt a posture of weakness, in a position of begging. We have already voiced our opinion, and the rest is the responsibility of the concert organizers.
Now there are different opinions on how we should celebrate Independence Day. Always remember that our heroes did not die solely for their families, but first and foremost for our independent state. We, the family members of the heroic soldiers, should value and prioritize the celebration of Independence Day even more.
On September 21, on the occasion of the Republic of Armenia’s Independence Day, a Republican prayer will be held at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and at the leading churches of the dioceses. I call on the parents and family members of our heroic soldiers to participate in this ceremony. Be sure to participate; our heroes want this. We should be the first participants in this ceremony.
Regarding the march to Yerablur on September 21, remember that every holiday has its significance. If we are marching to Yerablur on the 21st, then where are we going on September 27?”
