Forced to Cancel Robert Kocharian's Visit to Moscow at the Invitation of the Ruling Party of Russia

As is known, the ruling party of Russia, "United Russia", extended an invitation for a visit to Moscow about a week ago to Robert Kocharian, the leader of the "Armenia" alliance and the second President of Armenia. This was stated in a press release by the "Armenia" alliance.

"It was expected that during the visit, starting on September 19, discussions with the Russian side would not only cover interparty cooperation but also a wide range of other issues. However, the first instance court in Armenia denied Robert Kocharian's departure abroad. We are forced to cancel the visit. There was no legal basis for the court's rejection since President Kocharian has traveled to Moscow several times, and the court did not record any issues. We are witnessing yet another manifestation of pressure from the authorities on the court, aimed at restricting the political activities of the 'Armenia' alliance. We evaluate what is happening as yet another expression of the personal vindictiveness of the authorities and a new evidence of the complete absence of a state mindset," the statement reads.
